Tessa Brouwer

Tessa Brouwer, Msc. (1994) is a psychologist in training to become a cognitive behavioural therapist and will start training to become a GZ-psychologist in 2024.  Tessa received her bachelor degrees in Clinical Psychology and in Cognitive Neuroscience. She studied Clinical Psychology at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and graduated in 2019. During her studies she volunteered as an operator at a child helpline for children between the age of 8 and 18. She was also the chairman of the European commission of the student section of the Dutch institute of Psychologists (NIP) in 2017-18.

After graduating she started working for several small independent psychological practices where, besides giving therapy, she also focused on developing e-health, (online) courses and trainings. She also has experience giving coaching consults and couples therapy.

Tessa uses various evidence-based treatment techniques such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Schema therapy (ST), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).

Tessa stresses the importance of a safe and trusting therapeutic alliance. Clients value her open and honest personality and they say they feel heard and understood by her.

In her time off, Tessa loves travelling the world. She prefers to travel all over Australia in a campervan with her partner. Closer to home, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and she loves cooking and long dinner nights. She also enjoys doing yoga, spinning and barre classes and she plays piano.
